1. chilaquiles
2. bloody, well-crusted ribeye slowly cooked in garlic butter.
3. fresh berries, i will seriously just dump handfuls of them down my gullet when they are in season
4. most anything pickled - cucumbers, asparagus, okra, green beans, watermelon rinds, the carrots you get at taquerias, etc. i only like beets when they’re pickled.
5. perfectly fried or poached eggs - possibly one of the most flexible foods ever. i put them on toast every morning, eat them on greens and bowls of lentil soup, on salads, sandwiches, etc.
honorable mentions: collard or mustard greens, roasted or grilled asparagus, morel mushrooms in any application, ma po tofu, massaman curry, my mom’s chili, my mom’s chicken enchiladas, sweet potato hash.
